EyeCandyLab to impact the future of TV !

Our Tech will have huge impact on the future of TV. We have the possibility to provide multiple new levels of interactions

RA Pro :Could you please provide us more information about what EyeCandylab does ?

Robin : We are disrupting the way to watch TV by bridging the world of TV with AR to provide additional information and interaction features for direct response to advertisement and broadcasting content. Our product augmen.tv enriches linear TV with additional contents and makes it more engaging, more interactive and more immersive. It allows the user to interact with the program and have influence on the linear TV. Imagine you are watching the soccer world cup and you can augment additional information on the match around the TV! Statistics on the play, performance of the team and even some repetitions on demand on your second screen device. We are adding some essential value to the linear TV.

RA Pro: Tell us a bit more about the founding team.

Robin: We are four founders. Martin has been producing TV content for many years and developed his company Comberry into an internationally operating media company with 50 people around the globe. He is also the most experienced entrepreneur of our team.

Sascha is our CTO and knows every single line of code of our software. He is a fully dedicated coder and loves nothing more than finding new approaches for improvement. Besides passion, he has more than 10+ years of experience in developing and coding.

Tom is our creative part and developing the ideas for AR use with our clients. What sort of augmented reality can be used in order to perfectly match the demand and needs from the audience? He creates concepts and develops them creative perfection.

And Robin is in charge of the marketing and sales and tries to get everything done that helps to develop eyecandylab. Whether it is investors relations and fundraising, product presentation in front of 1000+ press people at the Augmented Reality World Expo or interview with TV about our technology .

Our patent pending Telemark technology allows to identify the TV/Screen within the camera feed

RA Pro: Doing Augmented Reality on a movie is something new, especially because of tracking difficulties. How do you do this (technologically speaking). Did you develop a special piece of software on top of an SDK in order to get this stunning result ?

Robin: We have developed a software that is able to use moving images as a marker for AR. Our patent pending Telemark technology allows to identify the TV/Screen within the camera feed. After detecting the TV itself, it analyses the moving image on the screen. By fingerprinting the program, the software is able to do an exact time code match with an accuracy of 20mS. This is crucial to provide a seamless and delay free AR experience.

There is, even after intense research, no direct competitor in terms of AR based on motion picture. We have even talked to Vuforia, the largest AR library available, about partnering up for this project but were told thats not their core business. After having spoken to many AR related people on the last TechCrunch, there is still no competition in moving image as a marker for AR.

We have also not used any AR framework (such as Vuforia or Wikitude) for our tech. It’s developed from scratch.

RA Pro: How do you see your technology influencing the near future in the TV space ?

Robin: Our Tech will have huge impact on the future of TV. We have the possibility to provide multiple new levels of interactions:
– A feedback channel for a more interactive TV experience
– A performance tracking possibility for Brands. To measure the ROI on the TV campaign
– Enabling TV Channels more and more ecommerce thru their program.

RA Pro: Did you presented your work to TV manufacturers ? What were their reactions ?

Robin: Yes. At TechCrunch Disrupt in SF we have talked to the CEO of Samsung. He was very impressed by our technology. But we also had talks with Panasonic and LG. The response is really great. According to some people, the NFL is partnering with one of the companies to develop a 20:9 ratio-TV to display all statistics next to the match. This shows us, that there is a market and need for this technology.

RA Pro: Did you presented your work to current TV Broadcasters ? What were their reactions ?

Robin: We have done our first project with one of the largest TV stations in Europe and have been approached by multiple networks from all over the world. We see a lot of interest from TV networks in our tech as they see a lot of potential in using this AR technology. More immersive TV experiences, interactive formats and new revenue streams are the opportunities that can be incorporated by using our technology.

We are constantly working on concepts for other use cases. Sports will be coming early next year, same is for a kids program in the US

RA Pro: What’s going to happen in EyeCandylab’s world during Q1 2018 ? Funding ? New product release ? New partnership ?

Robin: We are constantly working on concepts for other use cases. Sports will be coming early next year, same is for a kids program in the US. We will be exhibiting at the CES in January and will work on a prototype for AR glasses at the beginning of Q1/2018.

RA Pro: Thank you Robin for all your answers. Where can we redirect the people that would like to know more about you ?

Robin: Thank You Jean-Francois. The easiest way to contact us via our form on augmen.tv.
